The Team!

Amy started quilting around age 12 with her grandmother. Years later, she took a class from Vicki Pignatelli in Columbus, OH that radically shifted her practical definition of “quilt.” Art quilting became Amy’s passion, and she hasn’t looked back. In 2007, she co-founded a local art quilt group with art quilter, Kathleen Probst. The wonderful women in that group blessed Amy’s life for 10 years as pushed the limits of her creativity.  She began experimenting with all types of materials and designs using all tools available to her from luchador (think of that stuff underneath your bedroom boxspring) to custom computerized long arm designs to fabric painting (dyeing fabric is kinda messy, especially if it comes from your own sheep…) Then in 2011, Amy’s mother blessed her with a Handi Quilter 16. She could now quickly finish quilts for herself and others. Realizing that an expansion was needed,  she and her husband, Lee, remodeled their garage into a quilting studio. Amy began teaching classes for kids and adults in addition to machine quilting. Over the next two years, Amy spent time between classes becoming an expert on the use of the new long arm machine she had inherited, the HQ Fusion with computerized Pro-Stitcher. Thus, Experience the Quilt was born in 2018, allowing Amy to share her passion professionally. Amy lives on her hobby farm in Kuna, ID with her husband, 4 kids, 4 goats, 25 chickens, 2 cats, and a dog.
