Donala Water & Sanitation District primarily sources its water from the Denver Basin aquifers, treating it for iron and manganese before distribution through a comprehensive system of treatment plants, booster pumps, and storage tanks. As the Denver Basin is a limited resource, the District is committed to securing renewable water supplies for long-term sustainability. Efforts include the acquisition of water rights from Willow Creek Ranch and leased water from the Pueblo Board of Water Works, which currently meets about 30% of the District’s demand. With the addition of the Laughlin Water Right, Donala aims to increase its renewable water supply to 75%, with a long-term goal of achieving 100% renewable water by 2031.
