Your First Appointment

WHAT TO EXPECT

Every clinical situation is different. We will do everything possible to make you comfortable and keep you informed at every stage in your treatment. Before treatment, we will carefully evaluate your clinical situation and possible treatment needs. Basically, there are two types of appointments: A consultation appointment or a treatment appointment.

Many times, treatment can occur on the same day as the consultation. However, depending on the case complexity, your desires, and scheduling availability, they may require separate appointments.

Your clinical evaluation will require a clinical examination and x-rays, which may include a cone beam computed tomography (3D), depending on case complexity. Before any treatment, you will be presented with the diagnosis, your clinical options, the risks of treatment, if any, and possible alternatives. Treatment will only commence once you are fully informed and have given your consent.

When you call to schedule an appointment, we will be able to tell you if treatment can be started the same day or if a separate consult will be required. Every effort will be made to respect your time as we move through the treatment process.

IF YOU ARE HAVING PAIN

The need for endodontic treatment can often arise unexpectedly. If you are having tooth pain, please call us immediately. Signs and symptoms that endodontic treatment might be required can include pain when drinking hot and/or cold beverages, pain to chewing, swelling, or tooth pain that has inhibited your normal sleeping pattern.

We set aside time for same-day emergency treatment in our schedule, and we will do everything we can to see you the same day you call if you are experiencing these symptoms. Whether treatment is initiated on this same day depends on your clinical evaluation and individual needs.
