Jackson Street Youth Services operates 24/7 shelters that provide crucial support to unaccompanied youth and offer respite for families in crisis. These shelters aim to prevent homelessness by mediating and, when safe, reunifying youth with their families. The Corvallis shelter, reopening this summer, will increase the total available beds to 28 in the region for youth who are homeless or at risk. Services include 24-hour supervision, healthy meals, hygiene supplies, medical referrals, case management, educational support, mental health therapy, family mediation, mentoring, aftercare, and life skills workshops. The shelters create a structured, safe environment for youth aged 10-17, focusing on individual goals and family reunification, with stays typically ranging from 72 hours to 3 weeks, though extensions are possible for those needing further support.
